Mistral Wind Works From Gate-Wednesday March 4, 2009 After a steady diet of four and five furlong works the past two months, Mistral Wind worked from the gate Tuesday morning at Hawthorne Racecourse. She broke good and finished up well, but during the gallop out trainer Brian Williamson said, “Her back end seemed to give out on her”. After the exercise rider jumped off, she walked back to the barn and cooled out okay. Doc Peterson came to look Mistral Wind over and couldn’t find anything glaringly wrong with her except for maybe the fact that it could be neurological in which she might have tweaked a nerve or something. She walked the shed-row Wednesday morning with no miss-steps and will more than likely jog Thursday morning under a close-eye. Golden Roman-Mistral Wind Work 5/8ths-Tuesday February 10, 2009Mistral Wind and Golden Roman worked in company with stable mate Mon Amour Monday morning at Hawthorne Racecourse. In their first 5/8ths move, the trio started off well till the top of the stretch when they encountered a galloper which caused Mistral Wind to check and finish up behind the top two. Golden Roman went in 1:05.4 while Mistral Wind finishing just behind. They both galloped out strong and appear to be coming along nicely. The Babies Are Back-Tuesday November 25, 2008After some time off due to soreness and some growing pains, Mistral Wind and Golden Roman have returned to trainer Brian Williamson to begin training for the 2009 racing season. They both arrived at Hawthorne Racecourse Monday afternoon with Mistral Wind taking an easy jog and gallop. Golden Roman just jogged and will be shod today and will more than likely gallop tomorrow. Trainer Brian Williamson said that they looked good and are a liitle bit fleshy due to the time off but both seemed to enjoy themselves at the racetrack. Mistral Wind Back To The Farm-Thursday July 24, 2008After she arrived from the farm it didn’t take long for Mistral Wind to catch the eye of trainer Brian Williamson as being one of the better looking two-year olds in the barn. She learned the ins and outs of being a racehorse and was coming along nicely till some nagging shin problems popped up which happens especially to two year olds. Williamson backed off of her for a while and as she recovered from the shins went back to the racetrack and then began to go off a little in the behind. Williamson has had a larger than normal rash of horses with back-end problems this year which he believes can be attributed to the polytrack racing surface. Mistral Wind also did cut herself in the rear leg and was treated with antibiotics to treat an infection. Although this may sound that she has had a number of problems, the good news is that none are serious and with some time off, should get back on her track further down the line. Mistral Wind was sent to the Fairberry Farm for a break on Wednesday afternoon and will be monitered closely. The time-frame for her return to training will be decided later in the year. Mistral Wind Coming Along-Sunday July 6, 2008After recovering from a tender shin last month, Mistral Wind returned to the work tab with a half-mile move in .50.2 Thursday. When she first arrived at Arlington it took a little bit of time for Mistral Wind to become comfortable with the new surroundings. She was a handful getting out of the barn and would freeze-up on the racetrack, a pony was used for the first three days to coax her around before galloping. On the fourth day the pony was late and she had to go to the track on her own and it seemed to click as she went with no mishaps. This morning Mistral Wind worked with another filly and was able to stretch her legs while going a eigth of a mile 11.4. Trainer Brian Williamson liked the way she went and says she has a smooth way of going. Mistral Wind Arrives At Arlington-Wednesday May 7, 2008After learning some of the basics on what being a racehorse is about at the farm, Mistral Wind is about to kick it up another notch as she begins serious training after arriving at Arlington Park Wednesday afternoon. Trainer Brian Williamson says that she looks good and can’t wait to get her out on the track. Mistral Wind-Sunday February 10, 2008This grey daughter of Grade 1 Winner and Champion Sprinter Smoke Glacken is out of the stakes winning Dynaformer mare Transition Time which earned $111,529 with four wins at age three. This is her second foal and is a sister to stakes winner Dynasharp. She was purchased at the 2007 Keeneland Yearling Sale for $62,000 and along with a tremendous walk and conformation, should have early speed with the ability to carry it a route of ground on the main track and the turf. |
