Cap Gun To Begin New Career-Friday May 16, 2008

After retiring from racing due to bleeding problems, Cap Gun has been gelded and spent most of the time turned out at Farberry Farm. He has been given to a young girl who will begin to train him as a hunter/jumper and pleasure horse. Good luck to Cap Gun in your new life.

Cap Gun To The Farm-Sunday September 30, 2007

After numerous treatments in which we have tried to get Cap Gun over his bleeding problem, we have decided to send him home to the farm. Our last effort, where he was sent to a hypebaric chamber, did not seem to help the condition and along with the severity of his bleeding, it is in the best interest of the horse to not go on with him as a racehorse.

Cap Gun looks great and is in fine spirts. We will be looking to find him a good home as a pleasure horse or hunter/jumper to begin the next phase of his life.

Cap Gun In For Saturday-Wednesday September 19, 2007

Cap Gun is entered in the ninth race this Saturday at Arlington Park. The race is a NW2 $5,000 claiming event and will be the first start for Cap Gun since returning from a stint at the hyperbaric chamber earlier in the month. We are hoping that the treatment has helped in his bleeding issues which caused him to be scratched in his previous attempt at this level.

Cap Gun will be ridden by jockey Chris Emigh and will break from post position four in the full field of twelve going six and a half furlongs on the main track.

Cap Gun In For 5K Tag-Wednesday August 29, 2007

Cap Gun is scheduled to make his next start this Saturday in a NW2 5K claiming race at Arlington Park. The race will be the fourth on the card with Chris Emigh in the irons.

This will be lowest level that Cap Gun has competed in as we are still battling the bleeding problems that have occured in his previous races. The cooler weather that is expected towards the end of the week along with hopefully a bit easier competition should help Cap Gun.

Heat No Help For Cap Gun-Tuesday July 31, 2007

The warm and humid weather last week was no help to Cap Gun as he flattened out down the stretch beaten some eleven lengths. Cap Gun has been known to have some breathing problems, and with the heavy air that was around last Wednesday, it was alot to ask. We have been kicking around the idea of sending Cap Gun to a hyperbaric chamber for a few days which could help him with his bleeding problems. The chamber would allow him to breath in clean oxygen which in some instances has shown to help bleeders bounce back quicker along with helping with the healing process of the lungs.

Cap Gun Back In On Friday-Monday July 23, 2007

After winning his first start of the year, Cap Gun will try to make it two in a row in Friday’s fourth race at Arlington Park. The race drew a field of ten with Cap Gun breaking from the two hole. Jockey Chris Emigh has the return call in this NW2 10K claiming event going six and a half furlongs.

Cap Gun Full Of Run In Maiden Win-Thursday July 12, 2007

From the moment the gates opened, jockey Chris Emigh had his hands full with Cap Gun, who had his running shoes on Thursday at Arlington Park. After being caught behind the first flight of horses for the entire backside, Cap Gun was switched to the middle of the track at the top of the lane and motored on past the leaders to win by a half a length.

Cap Gun has always shown talent in the morning, but in three previous starts while in MSW events, he never seemed to put it together. The drop in class along with the cooler weather and change in training strategy by Brian Williamson seemed to do the trick. The race was run in good time for ten claimers with the half-mile in 46.3, three quarters in 1:11.2 while stopping the clock in 1:18.3 for the six and a half furlongs.

Cap Gun In For Thursday-Sunday July 8, 2007

Cap Gun will be making his second start of the year on Thursday in a Il-bred 10K maiden claiming event at Arlington Park. The race is a six and half furlong event and will be the first on the card with jockey Chris Emigh in the irons. Cap Gun has been set at 6-1 on the morning line.

Cap Gun Beats Three In Return-Thursday June 21, 2007

Cap Gun’s return to the races did not show much of an improvement from last years form where he finished last in each of his starts. He settled behind the first flight of horses for much of the first part of the race and did not improve his position to the wire while finishing eigth in the field of eleven.

Cap Gun had been training very well since his time-off from the races because of bleeding, and we were hoping that the problem would be behind him. He was scoped after the race and unfortunately, it was found that Cap Gun had again bleed through lasix. He will have the next few days off and we are looking for an easier spot for him, more than likely, an Il-bred 10K maiden claiming event on July 12th at Arlington Park.

Cap Gun Set For 3yo Debut-Sunday June 17, 2007

Cap gun will be making his first start of the year in Thursdays fifth race at Arlington Park. After having an extended break from the track, Cap Gun will return in a IL-bred MSW event going seven furlongs on the polytrack with jockey Jesse Lantz in the irons.

Cap Gun has been training forwardly for his return and we are hoping that the time off has helped with the bleeding problem that he suffered in his races last year as a two year old.
